ELA KIZHI

Ela Kizhi, also known as Patra Pinda Sweda, is a deeply therapeutic Ayurvedic massage technique that forms a part of the Panchakarma healing system. Originating from Kerala, this treatment involves the use of medicated herbal leaves tied in soft linen boluses, which are then heated in warm medicated oils and gently massaged over the body.

The primary goal of Ela Kizhi is to induce localized sweating (Swedana) that helps eliminate toxins through the skin while simultaneously soothing inflammation and nourishing the affected tissues. The herbal boluses are usually made with freshly ground medicinal leaves known for their Vata-pacifying properties, making this therapy particularly beneficial for conditions involving stiffness, pain, and inflammation.
